In January of 2014, Sylvan Lake’s local arena and curling rinks suffered damage; as a result, both are deemed structurally unsound. Therefore, the Town of Sylvan Lake will replace these facilities by adding new facilities to the Sylvan Lake Multiplex.
The new facilities, totaling approximately 9,058 square meters, will include a larger arena, a five-sheet curling rink, a walking/running track, a seniors centre, meeting/banquet facilities, a commercial kitchen, as well as space for children and youth.
Prior to construction activities Union Street Geotechnical Ltd. performed a geotechnical investigation at sites designated for the new facilities. The geotechnical investigation provided a description of soil type and condition as well as suitable foundation recommendations, providing The Town of Sylvan Lake with the necessary information to finalize construction details.
